Which vitamins work against fatigue?

Fatigue, we all suffer from it from time to time. With fatigue, our body fails to produce enough energy. This leaves us feeling tired and often unable to move forward. One of the most common causes of fatigue is vitamin deficiency. Our body then lacks essential nutrients and cannot function optimally. Fortunately, there are several vitamins against fatigue. In this blog, you will read which vitamins work for fatigue and which products contain these vitamins.

Vitamin C for fatigue

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, can help us reduce fatigue. Vitamin C improves the absorption of iron from food. Iron can then contribute to energy metabolism. It is therefore important to get enough vitamin C.

Vitamin B for fatigue

Vitamin B can also play a role in reducing fatigue. Vitamin B is an umbrella term for eight different vitamins that contribute in energy production.

Vitamin B1

Vitamin B1 converts sugar from food into energy. It also ensures constant blood sugar levels, which means we have fewer energy dips and generally feel more energetic.

Vitamin B2 and B3

Vitamin B2 and B3 are almost similar in terms of function. These vitamins are essential for our metabolism. In fact, they allow us to get energy from various nutrients.

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5, also known as Pantothenic acid, can also help reduce a lack of energy. Vitamin B5 helps us get energy from proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 has a positive effect on our digestive system, giving us more energy. Vitamin B12 deficiency can result in megaloblastic anaemia, which makes us feel tired and weak.

What is vitamin C in?

So taking vitamin C is a good tip against fatigue. This vitamin is found in vegetables, fruits and potatoes. Various types of cabbage and citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges, kiwis, berries and strawberries are especially rich in this vitamin. People with a healthy and varied diet often get enough vitamin C. The recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C for men and women aged 14 and over is 75 mg, according to the Nutrition Centre. Tip for fatigue or low energy: if your vitamin C intake is insufficient, you can supplement it with Vitamin C supplements.

What is vitamin B in?

Taking vitamin B is also a good tip for overtiredness. Vitamin B is found in almost all foods, but mainly in animal products like fish, meat and poultry. Vegetarians and vegans are often deficient in vitamin B because of this.

A good alternative for them is to choose other products rich in vitamin B, such as cereals, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Bananas, avocados and other green vegetables are especially good substitutes. In general, someone who eats a healthy and varied diet according to the Disk of Five gets enough vitamin B.
